These are the famous biblical engravings by Romeyn de Hooge (1645 or '46-1708). De Hooge was a well known engraver who worked in the style of Rembrant. These are from a fine later edition (1st. ed. 1703). Most pages had two engravings with text on the back. As was common, our pages were cut at some point in the past to separate the two images. Text and poems at the bottom of some of the pictures are in Dutch. These images are featured in Poortman's book on Dutch illustrated bibles. Most have a central, large scene, with four smaller scenes from the same biblical book. Images are 7.25" x 5.75." Unless otherwise stated all engravings have in their bottom margin "Rom. de Hooge Inventor et fecit. I. Lindenberg Excudit cum Privilegio".

	Genesis. Fig. 1 CREATION There is an eye in the center with hebrew letters and a cross. Then there are various levels of angels and lights and stars and planets and unusual symbols including an apparent "69". Page size: 8.25" x 7.25" Condition: very good impression w/ a 3" "crack" in image on left side which I did not notice for awhile. #RHO1 SOLD
